[Suggested] "Pre-Cataclysm Beastmen" and "Cataclysmic Beastmen"

By the current book, Beastmen are humans who were changed by the Cataclysm--mutated to have physical aspects of an animal. By this sudden mutation, they were cast from their human societies into the wilds and now live on the outskirts of what ever was left of "civilization". Either by this harsh change to their bodies, or the survival rate of a rather average human being thrown into the unforgiving wilderness, the book's current maximum age for a Beastman is 35.

However, what about the idea of Pre-Cataclysmic Beastmen? Mechanically speaking, they would be the same as the 10-year-old Cataclysmic Beastmen, but they could come from cultures of Beastmen, perhaps with a standard human age-range. Maybe their origins go back to some other ancient Cataclysm, or they have stories of a time when there were no Humans, but only Beastmen... then one day their spirits were severed into "Human" and "Animal" (their origin history would contradict the "actual" timeline, of course.)

The purpose of breaking the Beastmen into the two would be to allow one kind to have been human and only have been Beastmen for 10 years (nearing the end of their lives, at this rate), and creating an option for Beastmen characters to come from Beastmen cultures and create more rich, unique character histories.

Also: (Perhaps this is more of a "rules" issue), but could/should the age cap of 35 years be changed to something that allows a character to, well, survive the time played at the LARP? A Beastman character introduced as an 18 year old at the first FH would only have a few years left to be played before dying of old age.

Age is NOT a balance mechanic. It is pure RP and can be addressed here.

I know WH has beastmen groups that pedate the cataclysm. So we might want to check with Mike on if this is a sticking point. I doubt it is.

My personal opinion on the matter of pre-cataclysm Beastmen is that they exsisted in very small numbers or kept very quietly to themselves until the recent population growth fueled by the cataclysm brought them screaming into the lime light.

This could actually give an in-game seperation within beastmen which in turn could explain the way the beastmen age. If you play a beastman from a pre-cataclysm line, then you age at a different rate then magically-created beastmen. If someone wants to play a character that will die of old age quickly, this is one way to do it. (No one has but this doesn't mean someone won't want to someday. *grin*)
